KitchenAid Built-In Microwave Oven Inverter Board Replacement

"Step 1: Before you begin, be sure to turn off the power supply to your microwave."

Step 2: Open the oven door and remove any racks from the oven along with the turntable and support.

ATTENTION: TOOLS & ASSISTANCE NEEDED

"Step 3: You will need a regular Phillips-head screw driver or a quarter-inch nut driver, a small flat-head screwdriver, a T-10 Torx Bit, and an assistant to help move heavy microwave."

Step 4: Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to unthread the two screws securing the mounting flanges to the cabinet.

Step 5: Remove the washers as well if still intact.

Step 6: Have an assistant help you pull the appliance out of the cabinet and set it on a sturdy surface.

Step 7: Be aware that if the conduit cable is not long enough to move the microwave oven you will need to disconnect the power and grounding wires and remove the conduit cable from the junction box.

Step 8: Use the Phillips-head screwdriver or quater-inch driver to unthread the four screws securing the top access panel.

Step 9: Lift the panel up then slide foward to remove.

Step 10: Use a small flat-head screwdriver to depress the retaining tabs to help detach the inverter baord vent cover.

Step 11: You'll need to unthread the screw to release the thin metal retainer to fully remove the cover.

"Step 12: Note the orientation of the wires connected to the inverter board, then disconnect them. "

Step 13: You'll need to use a T-10 Torx Bit to unthread the screw from the nut to release the grounding wire.

Step 14: Install the new inverter board by first securing the grounding wire to the board with the screw and nut.

Step 15: Align the board on the mounting pins and connect the wires to the appropriate terminals.

Step 16: Be sure to secure the loose wires in the notch on the plastic base.

Step 17: Reposition the vent cover and snap it into position.

Step 18: Insert the retainer through the rear panel and thread the screw to hold it in place.

Step 19: Replace the top access panel by inserting the read edge first.

Step 20: Secure it with the screws.

"Step 21: With an assistant, return the mircowave oven to the cabinet and push it into position."

"Step 22: Insert the washers into the holes in the flanges, then thread the two screws to secure the flanges to the cabinet."

Step 23: Replace the support and align the turntable on the coupling.

Step 24: Turn the power supply back on.
