Step By Step Instructions

To replace the gearcase on your string trimmer, align the slot in the flanged washer with the slot in the gear case.

And it's sir - small flat-head screwdriver.

You can now rotate the trimmer head clockwise to detach.

Next, use a 5/16 inch socket or nut driver to unthread the locking screw.

Using a 3/8 inch socket or nut driver, unthread the clamp screw and you can remove the old gear case.

Install the new gear case by positioning it on the drive shaft, then thread the clamp screw loosely.

Align the hole in the gearcase with the hole in the drive shaft and thread the locking screw.

With the gearcase secure, tighten the clamp screw.

Reinstall the trimmer head by first aligning the flange washer, then thread on the head counterclockwise.

Align the slots, insert the screwdriver, then rotate the head to lock it into place.
