Step By Step Instructions

If you’re replacing the thermistor behind the freezer’s rear panel first remove the shelving and the lower drawer.

Next, lift off the light cover.

Unthread the light bulb.

Now use a quarter-inch socket or nut driver to remove the screws securing the rear panel.

Detach the grounding wire then slide the panel up and pull the left side out to fully remove the panel.

Unclip the thermistor from the evaporator tube.

Cut the wires close to the old sensor bulb.

Prepare the new thermistor for installation by trimming the wires three or four inches from the bulb.

Separate the two wires and strip off a half-inch of insulation.

Do the same for the two wires in the freezer.

Now join the wires together and secure them with wire nuts.

Apply some silicone to seal the connections.

Slide the mounting clip onto the new sensor bulb and clip the bulb to the evaporator tube.

Reinstall the rear panel by positioning the right side first.

Push the left side into place down behind the lower drawer rails.

Attach the grounding wire to the panel.

Fully align the panel and replace the screws.

Rethread the light bulb.

Replace the light cover.

Replace the lower drawer and shelving.

To replace the thermistor in the refrigerator compartment remove the two screws securing the damper cover.

Slide off the cover.

Lift the conduit cover up to remove.

As before, cut the wires close to the old thermistor sensor bulb.

Now trim the new thermistor wires separate the wires and strip off the half-inch of insulation from all four wires.

Join the wires secure with the nuts and use silicone to seal the connections.

Position the sensor bulb in the conduit cover and snap the cover into place in the shelf bracket.

You can tuck any excess wire behind the damper control.

Slide on the damper cover and secure it with the screws.

With the repair completed plug the power cord back in and your refrigerator should be ready for use.
