Tools needed: 5mm hex head screwdriver, 3mm hex head screwdriver
Step-By-Step Instructions1
Before you replace the ignition coil on your engine first make sure the engine has cooled.

Use a 5mm hex head screwdriver to loosen the mounting screw to release the engine cover.

Detach the wire and boot from the spark plug and disconnect the ignition coil wire.

Rotate the flywheel magnets away from the coil.

Use a 3mm hex head screwdriver to remove the mounting screws securing the coil and pull the old coil off.

Install the new ignition coil by aligning it on the engine then thread the mounting screws loosely.

Pull the coil back and tighten the screws.

Insert a business card between the coil and flywheel then rotate the flywheel so the magnets align with the coil.

Loosen the screws to align the coil the correct distance from the flywheel.

Retighten the screws and remove the card.

Connect the ignition coil wire and attach the wire and boot to the spark plug.

Reposition the engine cover then thread and tighten the mounting screw to secure.
