01 - Clogged Saddle Valve

The saddle valve is a small brass water supply valve which is often clamped to a copper household water supply pipe. Over time, the saddle valve can become clogged with sediment or calcium deposits. Because it is difficult to clean a saddle valve thoroughly, and because the replacement cost is fairly low, we recommend replacing the saddle valve if it is restricted.

02 - Transformer

Some furnaces have a separate transformer to provide 24 volts to the humidifier. If the water inlet valve is not receiving 24 volts and the contacts in the humidistat are closing as expected, it's likely the transformer has failed and the component will need to be replaced.

03 - Water supply valve turned off

Confirm the water supply shut off valve is in the on position. You may have to rotate or pull a knob or move a lever to open and shut the valve. You can follow the water line from the humidifier's water inlet valve to find the water supply valve.

04 - Humidistat turned off or not set properly

If your humidifier is not getting water, verify that the humidistat is on and set properly. If there is a on/off switch, make sure it's turned on. A normal comfortable humidity range in a home is between 40% to 50%. Refer to owner's manual for guidance.

05 - Water Supply Problem

If the humidistat is set properly, the humidifier is turning on when the furnace runs, and the water supply valve is on, but not water is reaching the water inlet valve, then there may be a water supply issue.

06 - Normal Operation

The humidifier only lets water in when the furnace is on. If water is trickling through the evaporator pad when the furnace is running and the humidistat is on, this is normal operation.
