Step By Step Instructions

As with any repair, you should unplug the appliance before beginning.

To replace the idler spring on your washer, you should first secure the lid with tape.

Now insert a putty knife under the main top to release the two spring clips.

Lift up the main top and support it.

Next, remove the mounting screws at the bottom of the front panel.

Push the panel down and pull it away from the frame.

Reach under the tub and depress the idler pulley to release the tension on the drive belt then remove the belt from the pulleys.

Note the position of the old idler pulley spring if still intact.

Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the c-clamp securing the pulley and spring to the shaft and remove the washers.

Now slide the pulley and spring off of the shaft.

Prepare the new idler spring for installation by transferring the bushing from the old spring to the new one

Insert the new spring into the idler pulley.

Now slide the spring and pulley onto the shaft and insert the spring hook into the appropriate hole in the bracket.

Replace the drive belt by hooking it onto the motor and idler pulleys then rotate the transmission pulley to fully align the belt.

Slide the washers onto the shaft and replace the c-clamp to secure the idler pulley assembly.

Replace the front panel by aligning the tabs on the panel with the slots in the frame then lift the panel up.

Replace the mounting screws to secure.

Remove the support lower the main top and snap it into place.

Then remove the tape securing the lid.

You’re now ready to plug the power cord back in and confirm that the washer is functioning properly.
