Step By Step Instructions

As with any repair, be sure you unplug the appliance before beginning.

Your first step is to remove any air ducts mounted on the rear panel.

Your first step is to remove any shelving or drawers obstructing the freezer's rear panel.

Next, remove the screws to release the panel itself.

Next, lift the light lens cover up and out to remove.

Unclip the old thermostat from the refrigerant tubing.

Unscrew the lightbulb and set it aside.

Now, cut the wires as close to the thermostat as possible and strip off approximately a quarter inch of insulation.

Remove the screws securing the rear panel and, if applicable, detach the grounding wire.

Install the new defrost thermostat by first connecting the respective wires together using wire nuts.

Now, lift the panel up and out.

Add silicone sealant to the bottom of the nuts to seal the connection.

Unplug the old defrost thermostat from the refrigerant tubing.

Clip the new thermostat onto the refrigerant tubing.

Cut the wires as close to the thermostat as possible and strip off approximately a quarter inch of insulation.

We install the rear panel and secure the screws.

Install the new defrost thermostat by first connecting the respective wires together using wire nuts.

Remount any air ducts.

Add silicone sealant to the bottom of the nuts to seal the connection.

You're now ready to plug the appliance back in to make sure it's functioning properly.

Clip the new thermostat onto the refrigerant tubing.

Replace the rear panel and reattach the grounding wire if applicable.

Secure the panel with the screws.

Replace the light bulb and the light lens cover, as well as any drawers or shelving.
