Description

This video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the heating element assembly on Frigidaire dishwashers. The most common reason for replacing the heating element is when the dishwasher won’t dry the dishes.

All of the information in this heating element replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Frigidaire, Kenmore, Universal, Gibson, Crosley, Westinghouse, Tappan, Kelvinator

Tools used: 14” nut driver, Phillips head screwdriver, wrench

Step By Step Instructions

Before you begin, be sure to turn off the power supply to your dishwasher.

Your first step is to remove the screws securing the lower access panel or panels.

Next, remove the screws securing the water inlet valve and move the valve out of the way.

Now, disconnect the wires to the old heating element.

Use a 1/2 inch open-ended wrench to remove the nuts from the heating element terminals.

Remove the lower dish rack.

Now, detach the lower wash arm by pulling the two tabs out.

You're now ready to remove the old heating element by pulling out the terminals and releasing it from the brackets.

Install the new heating element by snapping it into the brackets and inserting the terminals into the bottom of the tank until the element is flush against it.

Snap the wash arm back onto the support and replace the dish rack.

Reinstall the terminal nuts and reconnect the wires.

Position and secure the water inlet valve.

Replace the lower access panel or panels and secure the screws.

You're now ready to restore power to your dishwasher to make sure it's functioning properly.
