DescriptionThis video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the line fuse on Whirlpool microwaves. The most common reason for replacing the line fuse is when the microwave does not work because the fuse has blown, and you have fixed whatever problem caused the fuse to blow.
All of the information in this line fuse replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Kenmore, Estate, Maytag, Ikea, Amana, Roper, Jenn Air, Inglis
Tools used: Phillips head screwdriver, insulated screwdriver, pliers
Step-By-Step Instructions1
Because of the high voltage and high current used by microwave ovens, be aware that repairing this appliance poses a substantial risk for injury or death if precautions are not taken. You should always unplug the microwave before you attempt any disassembly. Since high voltage capacitors used in microwaves may retain a charge even after the microwave has been unplugged, we recommend that only experienced professionals access and replace internal components.

To replace the fuse in your microwave oven use a phillips-head screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the grill.
3
Pull the grill forward from the top to remove.
4
Open the oven door and remove the mounting screw securing the control panel.
5
Lift the control panel up to detach.

You should release the potentially stored electrical charge in the capacitor to avoid injury.

You can do this by placing a screwdriver with an insulated handle across each set of terminals.

Be very careful not to touch the screwdriver blade when doing this.
11
Now use pliers to detach the old fuse from the noise filter board.
12
Install the new fuse by snapping it into the bracket.

Replace the inner access panel and rethread the screws to secure.
14
Insert the control panel tabs into the front panel slots and push the panel down.
15
Replace the mounting screw to secure.
