Step-By-Step Instructions1
Before you replace the horizontal spring in your washer Unplug the power cord.

Use a number two square-bit screwdriver to remove the mounting screws securing the bottom of the front panel.

With the screws removed, slide the panel down and pull it out to detach.

If you’re replacing a horizontal spring at the rear of the tub, we recommend removing the appropriate side panel for easier access.

To do this, remove the mounting screws securing the side panels to the main top.

Lift up the lid and use a flat-head screwdriver to help detach the latch assembly.

Remove the bleach dispenser cover.

Use a phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screw securing the dispenser.

Depress the tabs to release the dispenser from the main top.

You can now lift up the main top and support it.

Now use the number two square-bit screwdriver to remove the screws securing the appropriate side panel to the base and rear panel.

Use a phillips-head screwdriver to remove the top screw and move the panel out of the way.

Now pull down the tub to reduce the tension on the spring you’re replacing if still intact.

Use pliers to unhook the spring from the base anchor then unhook the spring from the tub support to fully remove.

Prepare the new horizontal spring for installation by applying a small amount of petroleum jelly to the hooks.

Now hook one end of the new spring onto the tub support and the other end onto the base anchor.

If required, reposition the side panel and replace all of the screws to secure.

Remove the support and lower the main top.

Confirm that the pins in the side of the panels are aligned with the holes in the top.

Snap the bleach dispenser into place on the main top.

Next, secure the latch assembly in the main top.

Replace the front panel by inserting the panel tabs into the slots in the side panels.

Push the panel up into position and replace the mounting screws.

With the repair completed plug the power cord back in and your washer should be ready for use.
