Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace the drive motor in your washer

Use a number two square-bit screwdriver to remove the mounting screws securing the bottom of the front panel.

With the screws removed, slide the panel down and pull it out to detach.

Next, remove the screw securing the motor control board and move the board out of the way.

Remove the belt by pulling down on the belt while rotating the drive pulley.

Use pliers to help release the motor wire retaining clip from the shield.

Next, remove the screws securing the shield to the tub and pull off the shield.

Disconnect the motor wire connecters and the grounding wire.

Use a 5/16th inch socket to remove the mounting screws securing the motor.

With the screws removed, lift out the old motor.

Prepare the new drive motor for installation by transferring the plastic base from the old motor to the new one.

Now position the new motor on the support bracket.

Secure it with the mounting screws.

Connect all of the wires to the new motor.

Realign the shield and replace the screws to secure it.

Snap the wire retaining clip into place on the shield.

Replace the belt by first sliding it under the drive pulley.

Now loop the belt onto the motor pulley then hook the belt above one of the drive pulley tabs.

Rotate the pulley clockwise until the belt is snug.

Lift the lid and rotate the inner tub clockwise until the belt snaps into position on the drive pulley.

Slide the motor control board into position on the support and replace the screw to secure.

Replace the front panel by inserting the panel tabs into the slots in the side panels.

Push the panel up into position and replace the mounting screws.

With the repair completed plug the power cord back in and your washer should be ready for use.
