Before you replace the spark plug boot on your string trimmer first make sure the engine has cooled.

If still intact, remove the old boot and wire from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.

Now remove the screws securing the engine cover and pull the cover off.

Consider applying liquid dish soap or rinse aid to the old boot to make it easier to pull it off of the terminal wire.

Install the new spark plug boot by first applying some dish soap then slide the boot over the terminal.

Reposition the engine cover and reinstall the screws to secure it.

Clean out any excess soap from the boot then attach it to the spark plug and your string trimmer should be ready for use.
