Dryer won't start

Dryer idler pulley wheel kit. The idler pulley puts tension on the drive belt. If the idler pulley fails to put the proper amount of tension on the belt, the dryer will not spin

A dryer's idler pulley puts tension on the belt to rotate the drum. If the idler pulley is worn out or damaged, the belt can break or fall off, and actuate a belt switch which can prevent the dryer from starting.

Dryer stopped spinning

The dryer's idler pulley puts tension on the drive belt so the belt can rotate the drum during operation. A defective idler pulley can cause the dryer drum to stop spinning. Inspect the idler pulley and make sure it spins freely on the shaft. If the idler pulley is stuck, worn or damaged, we recommend replacing the drum drive belt in addition to replacing the idler pulley.

Dryer drum not turning

Inspect the idler pulley for the dryer drum belt and make sure it spins freely on the shaft. If the idler pulley is stuck, worn or damaged, we recommend replacing the drum drive belt in addition to replacing the idler pulley. 

Dryer makes noise

Inspect the idler pulley for signs of wear. If the idler pulley is worn or damaged, we recommend replacing the drive belt in addition to replacing the idler pulley.

Dryer has a burning smell

The idler pulley keeps tension on the belt to prevent it from slipping. If the idler wheel is damaged or stops turning, the belt can slip on the drive pulley, producing a burning smell. If your idler pulley is damaged or doesn't turn, you should replace it. Replacing the drive belt is also recommended.

Dryer vibrating or shaking

A worn or stuck idler pulley may be unable to smoothly allow the drive belt to rotate the drum efficiently, resulting in the appliance vibrating or shaking. Inspect the pulley for any wear or damage and confirm it rotates freely. If the pulley shows signs of damage or doesn't turn easily it should be replaced.
