Furnace not heating

The blower motor spins a blower wheel to circulate the heated air throughout the home's venting. If the motor is burned out, the air will not be circulated. You should try turning the blower wheel by hand to determine if it can rotate freely. If blower wheel does not turn freely, it's likely the blower motor bearings have seized and the motor will need to be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to determine if voltage is reaching the motor. If power is getting to the component, but the motor doesn't run, it is likely defective.

Furnace is noisy or loud

Over time, the bearings in the blower motor wear out, causing the motor to become noisy. Some furnace motors can be lubricated—if your furnace motor can be lubricated, try lubricating it first. If lubricating the motor doesn’t solve the problem, or if your motor can’t be lubricated, replace the motor. 

Furnace blower not running

The blower motor blows air through the return vent, past the heat exchanger, and into the home’s venting. First, make sure that power is getting to the motor. If power is getting to the blower motor, but the motor does not run, the motor may be burned out. If the blower motor is burned out, replace it. If the blower motor hums, check the blower fan to ensure that it spins freely. If the blower fan is unobstructed but does not spin freely, replace the blower motor.

You can use a multimeter to test the blower motor for electrical continuity, a continuous electrical path present in the motor, as well as determine if power is reaching the motor. If the wheel does not turn freely, it's likely the motor bearings have seized. If the motor doesn't turn freely or is shorted, the blower motor will need to be replaced.
