Universal Washer is making loud noise
If your washing machine is making loud noise, first check that the shipping bolts and foam block were removed from the rear of the washer. These shipping materials keep the tub from moving during transport but will cause severe noise and movement if left in place. If the washer is loud when spinning after the bolts are removed, the most likely cause is a worn tub bearing, which can produce a rumbling or grinding sound as the inner tub rotates. A defective tub seal and bearing kit can cause the same washing machine noise when spinning and may also allow water to leak from the bottom of the tub near the transmission. Some models use a rear drum with bearing, and replacing the rear drum and bearing assembly may be more practical than pressing in a new bearing. A separate washing machine bearing may also be available, but this repair usually requires extensive tub disassembly. Finally, an improperly balanced load can make a noisy washing machine bang or shake, especially when lightweight and heavy items are mixed. If the washer is noisy during the spin cycle or is leaking from the bottom of the tub near the transmission, the tub seal and bearing are likely defective. 04 - Universal Washing Machine Rear Drum with Bearing
The rear drum has a bearing or bearings in it to keep the inner tub spinning smoothly. If the tub bearing system is defective the washer can become very noisy. On some machines bearings are sold separately from the rear drum, however we recommend replacing both the outer drum and bearing as an assembly if the manufacturer offers the components together because removing and pressing in the new bearing can be exceptionally difficult.
