Magic Chef Washer is making loud noise
When your Magic Chef washing machine is making loud noise, start by checking whether the shipping bolts and foam block were removed from the rear of the washer. These parts keep the tub secure during transport, but leaving them installed can cause severe noise and movement. If your washer is loud when spinning, the tub bearing is the most likely failed component. A worn bearing can make the washing machine noisy during the spin cycle and may require extensive disassembly. If you also notice water leaking from the bottom of the tub, replace the tub seal and bearing kit. On some Magic Chef models, the bearing is built into the rear drum, so replacing the rear drum with bearing and the outer tub assembly may be the most practical repair. A defective bearing can also be sold separately, but pressing it into place is difficult. Finally, check for an improperly balanced load. Mixing heavy and light items, or washing too few items, can make the washer bang or shake. The rear drum has a bearing or bearings in it to keep the inner tub spinning smoothly. If the tub bearing system is defective the washer can become very noisy. On some machines bearings are sold separately from the rear drum, however we recommend replacing both the outer drum and bearing as an assembly if the manufacturer offers the components together because removing and pressing in the new bearing can be exceptionally difficult.
