When your Magic Chef washer has the wrong water temperature, such as washer water too cold, too hot, or no hot water, start with the temperature sensor. This sensor tells the water inlet valve whether to add hot or cold water, and you can test it with a multimeter for proper continuity. Next, check the temperature selector switch, which sends power to the inlet valve and may cause the washer to use only one temperature when it fails. A damaged dispenser door may also contribute to incorrect water temperature, so inspect it for damage or improper operation. Clogged screens in the fill hose or water inlet valve can restrict hot or cold water flow. Unplug the washer, shut off both water supplies, remove the hoses, and clean any debris from the screens. Also verify that the hot and cold fill hoses are connected to the correct ports. If those parts check out, the temperature control switch may not be sending the proper voltage to the inlet valve solenoids. Enter your Magic Chef washer's model number to find the exact replacement temperature sensor, switch, water inlet valve, or other part for your machine.
01 - Magic Chef Washing Machine Temperature Switch
The temperature selector switch allows power to be sent to the water inlet valve to release hot or cold water. If the temperature selector switch is faulty, the valve may only allow only one temperature of water to fill the tub. You can use a multimeter to test the switch for electrical continuity. If the switch tests negative for continuity, the part will need to be replaced.

02 - Magic Chef Washing Machine Temperature Sensor
The washer's temperature sensor determines whether more hot or cold water should be released by the water inlet valve to maintain an appropriate water temperature in the tub. If the sensor is faulty, the incoming water may be the wrong temperature. You can use a multimeter to test the sensor for appropriate electrical continuity. If the sensor tests inappropriately, the part will need to be replaced.

04 - Clogged Screens in Fill Hose or Water Inlet Valve
All water valves have filter screens to prevent particles from clogging the valve or stop the valve from closing. For added protection and easier access, some fill hoses may have screens added to the hose washers/gaskets where the fill hose connects to the homes hot or cold shut-off valve. The screens in the water valve and hoses should be checked and cleaned if necessary. Unplug the machine. Turn off the water supply valves. Get a bucket to catch the remaining water in the hoses. Unthread the hoses from your machine and clean any debris from the filter screens.

05 - Fill hoses reversed
If the fill hoses are not connected to the appropriate valve faucets or ports (one hose connecting the cold water supply valve to the washer's cold water inlet valve port and the other hose connecting the hot water supply valve to the hot water inlet valve port), the wash and rinse water temperatures will be reversed. Check that the fill hoses are connected correctly. There are usually markings next to the water inlet valve connections for the hot (H) and cold (C) designations.

06 - Magic Chef Washing Machine Temperature Control Switch
The temperature control switch switches power to either the cold or hot solenoid on the water supply valve to maintain the proper water temperature. If the temperature control switch is defective the water inlet valve may not receive the proper voltage to work properly. If the temperature control switch is not sending proper voltage to the water inlet valve solenoids it will need to be replaced.
A defective water inlet valve may only be allowing one temperature of water to fill the tub. In addition, some water inlet valves will have a temperature sensor built in to determine whether more hot or cold water should be released to maintain an appropriate water temperature in the tub. If the valve's sensor is faulty, the incoming water may be the wrong temperature. In either case, a defective inlet valve should be replaced with a new one.
