A cracked or broken agitator assembly or washplate can also cause a washer damaging clothes, so inspect these parts for rough edges and replace them when necessary. Finally, look for screws, nails, and other objects stuck in the tub area, agitator, or baffles. Remove any foreign objects you find, but replace any interior component they damaged.
