Step By Step Instructions

1
Before you replace the terminal block in your electric range, be sure to unplug the power cord or shut off the power supply.
2
Half an assistant can help you move the range away from the wall.
3
Use a quarter-inch socket or nut driver to unthread the mounting screw to release the terminal block access cover.
4
Use a 3/8 inch socket or nut driver to unthread the nuts securing the power cord and main power supply wire terminals.
5
Note the orientation of the wires, then slide the terminals off of the posts.
6
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, unthread the appropriate screws to fully remove the old terminal block.
7
You're now ready to install the new terminal block.
8
Align the insulator on the new block, then position the assembly on the rear panel.
9
Thread and tighten the screws.
10
When using a three-wire power cord, you will need to attach the grounding strap to the middle post of the terminal block.
11
Then, secure the opposite end of the strap to the panel with a quarter-inch screw.
12
Slide the white or central neutral wires over the center terminal block post, the black wires over the left post, and the red wire over the right post.
13
Align the power cord wires on the posts, then thread the hex nuts.
14
Be sure to firmly tighten the nuts.
15
If you're using a four-wire power cord, the grounding strap will not be needed as the green grounding wire should be secured to the panel below the terminal block with the quarter-inch screw.
16
Slide the white neutral wire of the power cord on the middle post and the red and black wires on the outer posts.
17
Secure all of the wires with the hex nuts.
18
Reposition the access cover and secure it with the mounting screw.
19
Move the appliance back against the wall.
20
Plug the power cord back in or restore the power supply, and your electric range should be ready for use.
