Tools needed: adjustable wrench, channel-lock pliers

Be sure to unplug the power cord.

Shut off the gas supply.

Use an adjustable wrench and channel-lock pliers to help unthread the gas supply line from the regulator.

Next, unthread the old pressure regulator from the manifold.

Prepare the new pressure regulator for installation by transferring the adapter fitting from the old regulator to the new one?or use a new adapter.

Be sure to apply new pipe-joint compound to the non-flared end of the adapter, before threading it into the new regulator.

Use the adjustable wrench and channel-lock pliers to tighten the adapter fitting.

If your cooktop uses liquid propane, you will need to reverse the spring retainer in the regulator.

To do this, unscrew the access cap.

Unthread the spring retainer from the cap, turn it around, and thread the opposite end into the cap.

Replace the cap on the regulator.

Apply new pipe-joint compound to the threads of the manifold.

Thread the pressure regulator onto the manifold - make sure the arrow is pointing up toward the bottom of the cooktop base.

The regulator access cap should be facing forward.

Attach the gas supply line to the adapter.

Wrench-tighten the connection, but avoid over-tightening.

Now open the gas shut-off valve, and test the connections by applying a non-corrosive leak-detection solution.

The solution will bubble is there is a leak.

Once you?ve confirmed the connections are secure and leak-free, plug the power cord back in and your gas cooktop should be ready for use.
