Step By Step Instructions

As with any repair, be sure you unplug the appliance before beginning.

Your first step is to take off the retaining clips and remove the freezer shelving.

Then, remove the drawers and drawer rails.

Next, remove the screws to release the freezer's rear interior panel or panels.

Unclip the old defrost thermostat from the refrigerant tubing.

Cut the wires as close to the thermostat as possible and strip off 1/8 of an inch of insulation.

Prepare the new defrost thermostat for installation by sliding the insulator sleeves onto the thermostat's wires, followed by the connectors.

Crimp to secure.

Join the two sets of wires together and crimp to secure the connection.

Slide the insulator sleeves over the connectors and carefully heat with a lighter to seal the connection.

Snap the new defrost thermostat onto the refrigerant tubing.

Replace the rear interior panel or panels and secure the screws.

Replace the drawer rails, drawers, and shelving, and use the retaining clips to secure.

You're now ready to plug the appliance back in to make sure it's functioning properly.
