Tools needed: multi-screwdriver, Phillips head bit, flathead bit, needle-nose pliers, string, sealant

Step By Step Instructions

As with any repair, be sure you unplug the appliance before beginning.

To replace the dispenser in your washer, remove the screws securing the top panel.

Now lift the panel up and push forward to remove.

Next, pull out the dispenser tray and depress the tab in the back to remove.

Remove the water temperature and cycle signal knobs – you can use string or wire to help pry them off.

Remove the timer knob by first pushing the knob in then rotate the knob counter-clockwise to remove.

Pull off the indicator dial and washer.

Remove the screws securing the control panel to the frame.

With the screws removed, pull the panel forward and disconnect the wires from the door lock indicator and the extra rinse switch to release the panel.

Next, unthread the dispenser mounting screw.

Remove the screws to release the spring retaining straps.

Then replace one screw on each side to secure the support bracket.

You will now need to release both suspension springs from the support bracket and move them to adjacent holes in the cabinet frame.

You may want to have an assistant support the tub to make this step easier.

Now remove all of the screws securing the support bracket to the frame.

Release the dispenser housing tabs to detach the housing.

Detach the dispenser wire retainer from the bracket and set the support bracket aside.

Note the orientation of the dispenser wire connecters and disconnect them from the valve.

Release the retaining clamps securing the hoses to the valve.

Pull the hoses off – be prepared for some water to spill.

Pull the vent tube off of the outer tub.

Peel off any tape as necessary and remove the old dispenser.

Prepare the new dispenser for installation by removing the tray.

Now position the dispenser outlet port on the water inlet duct and use tape to secure.

Next, attach the hoses to the valve ports.

Position the clamps to secure.

Connect the wire connecters to the valve.

Apply sealant to the vent tube then attach the tube to the outer tub.

You can now reposition the support bracket.

Replace the screws to secure.

Snap the dispenser housing into position in the bracket.

Rethread the dispenser mounting screw.

Realign the suspension springs in the appropriate holes in the bracket.

Remove the screws to allow the spring retaining straps to be repositioned then rethread the screws to secure.

Snap the dispenser wire retainer into the bracket.

Use pliers to reconnect the wires to the appropriate terminals on the control panel.

Realign the panel and secure with the screws.

Replace the water temperature and cycle signal control knobs.

Reposition the indicator dial and washer then reinstall the timer knob by holding the dial while rotating the knob clockwise until secure.

Realign the top panel and replace the screws to secure.

Now transfer the dispenser tray cover from the old tray to the new one.

Insert the tray into the housing and push it into position.

You’re now ready to plug the power cord back in and confirm that the washer works properly.
