Step-By-Step Instructions1
As with any repair, you should unplug the power cord before beginning.

To replace the defrost heater assembly in your freezer, first remove the lower basket.

Now remove the bumpers on both the middle and lower racks and remove the two racks.

Next, remove the screws securing the evaporator cover.

Now, disconnect the defrost heater wire connecters.

Undo the aluminum retainers.

Detach the defrost heater thermostat from the evaporator.

Carefully pull the evaporator off of the mounting pins on the rear panel and pull the old defrost heater assembly free.

You’re now ready to install the new defrost heater assembly.

Position the thermostat and the left side of the defrost heater on the evaporator then align the evaporator on the mounting pins and position the right side of the heater.

With the defrost heater in place, secure the bottom of the assembly with the aluminum retainers.

Attach the defrost thermostat to the evaporator and connect the defrost heater wire connecters.

Replace the evaporator cover and secure it loosely with the screws.

Align the side gaskets and push them into place.

With the gaskets fully positioned, tighten the screws.

Replace the racks and snap on the bumpers.

Replace the lower basket and plug the power cord back in to confirm that the freezer is functioning properly.
