How to Replace Water Filter EPTWFU01

Turn Off the Ice Maker

Before changing the water filter, locate the control panel on the refrigerator's exterior. Press the 'Ice Maker' button to turn the ice maker off. This prevents the system from trying to draw water while the filter is removed.

Remove the Old Water Filter

Open the refrigerator door and locate the water filter, typically in the upper right-hand corner. Firmly grasp the old filter and rotate it counter-clockwise to unlock and remove it from the housing. Have a towel ready for any minor drips.

Install the New Water Filter

Unwrap the new water filter. Align it with the housing and insert it straight in. Push firmly and then rotate the filter clockwise until it locks securely into place. You should feel a distinct stop when it is fully seated.

Flush the Water System

Using the water dispenser, run approximately 1.5 to 2 gallons of water (about four minutes) through the new filter to flush out any air and loose carbon particles from the system. The water may sputter initially. Discard this water.

Check for Leaks

After flushing the system, carefully inspect the area around the new water filter housing for any signs of leaks or drips. Ensure the filter is still securely in place.

Turn On the Ice Maker

Return to the exterior control panel and press the 'Ice Maker' button again to reactivate it. The indicator light should illuminate, confirming it is on.
