Oven light is out

The touchpad has a button that controls the oven light. If this button is defective, the touchpad won’t signal the oven control board to turn on the oven light. However, this is rarely the case. First test the light bulb, socket, and switch. If none of these components is defective, the touchpad might be at fault.

Oven won't turn on 

If an oven won't turn on, it's possible the touchpad is defective. One way to help confirm this is to determine if some touchpad buttons respond while others don't. If some of the buttons still work, then it's quite probable the touchpad is faulty and requires replacement (if none of the buttons work, a defective control board is more likely the cause of the oven not turning on). 

Oven not self-cleaning

The door lock indicator light should come on and you should hear the lock motor running when the self-clean button is pressed. If the indicator light does not come on and you don't hear a low humming noise as the door is being locked, it's likely the oven's touchpad is faulty and will need to be replaced.

Oven won't turn off 

If the oven won't turn off, you should unplug the power cord or shut off the power supply and let the oven cool down. Disconnect the touchpad ribbon from the control board and restore power to the oven. If the oven does not start to heat back up with the touchpad ribbon disconnected, the touchpad is likely defective and will need to be replaced.

Electric stove burner won't turn off

A range's touchpad can allow the user to select the heating functions for both a stovetop and an oven. If the touchpad is defective, one or more of the buttons may have shorted and you will not be able to turn off the element. If you've confirmed the surface element itself has not shorted and the element is controlled by a touchpad, it's likely that the touchpad or control panel is faulty.

Oven light not turning off

If the light is not turning off when the button is pressed, the button may not be activating. To determine if the touchpad is defective, try pressing each of the buttons on the control panel. If some of the buttons respond correctly while others don’t, replace the touchpad.

Stove turns off on its own

If a stove turns off on its own, determine if some of the buttons on the touchpad respond intermittently or not at all. If so, it's likely the touchpad is faulty and should be replaced. 

Oven door won't unlock/locks intermittently

If the door lock motor tests appropriately for electrical continuity, but the oven door still won't unlock or locks intermittently, it's possible that the touchpad is defective and unable to properly control the door lock motor. To help determine this, you can test for voltage reaching the door lock motor. If no voltage is reaching the motor, it's likely the touchpad requires replacement.

Oven shuts off on its own

	If the oven turns off on its own, determine if some of the buttons on the touchpad respond intermittently or not at all. If so, it's likely the touchpad is faulty and should be replaced.
