Gas stove burner won't light

A stove burner that won't light could be caused by a faulty surface burner valve. If you don't hear the gas beginning to flow when you turn on the valve, the valve is likely defective and will need to be replaced.

Stove smells like gas

All gas ranges will have a slight gas smell when the burners light. This is normal. The smell should go away quickly after the burner has lit. If you still smell gas after the burner has lit, or when the range is not in use, it's possible the safety burner valve is damaged and you should contact a certified technician to fix it. 

Gas stove burner won't turn off

A stove burner that won't turn off could be caused by a faulty surface burner valve that is unable to close. Try removing the control knob and turning the valve stem by hand. If the stem will not rotate, or the burner stays on in the off position, the valve is likely defective and should be replaced.

If a burner flame is not changing as expected when the surface burner valve control knob is turned from low to high, it's possible the burner valve stem is damaged and not actuating the valve appropriately. If the valve stem appears loose or wiggles you should replace the surface burner valve.

If you want to replace the broiler pan instead, we offer one called the Broiler Pan and Insert. Control panel Most range/oven control panels are glass and/or painted metal. You can safely use non-abrasive cleaners on these surfaces. We offer a wide selection of range/stove/oven cleaner and deodorizer parts. Note: Never spray cleaners directly onto the control panel. Instead, put some cleaner on a soft, damp rag, then wipe the surface. Cooktop: You can clean any porcelain cooktop with a non-abrasive cleanser.
