The Frigidaire Burner Igniter Switch 318037700 is a high-quality replacement part that ignites the burner through a spark ignition system. It is rated at 120VAS and 0.1A and replaces several other part numbers. Safety precautions and professional assistance may be necessary for repairs.

When the burner is turned on, the spark ignition switch sends voltage to the spark module to produce a spark. If the spark ignition switch is defective, it won't send voltage to the spark module, and the burner won't be able to produce a spark. If your range's burner isn't sparking, check to see if the other burners are sparking properly. If the other burners are sparking properly, the spark ignition switch is likely defective.

Gas stove burners spark all the time

One of the spark ignition switches might be defective. The spark ignition switch sends voltage to the spark module. When the electrical contacts inside the switch close, power flows to the spark module. If the spark ignition switch fails with the electrical contacts closed, the switch will send continuous voltage to the spark module. To determine if any of the spark ignition switches is defective, use a multimeter to test each of the switches for continuity. If a spark ignition switches shows continuity at all settings, replace it.

Range making a loud noise

If the gas is not lighting correctly, it can build up and flash, causing a “whoosh” noise on the burner. This can potentially be caused by a faulty spark ignition switch only working intermittently. You can use a multimeter to test the spark ignition switch or switches for electrical continuity to determine if the component is functioning normally.

Broiler pan The broiler pan that comes with most range/ovens is porcelain-coated steel. Clean it with a non-abrasive cleanser. If you want to replace the broiler pan instead, we offer one called the Broiler Pan and Insert. Control panel Most range/oven control panels are glass and/or painted metal. You can safely use non-abrasive cleaners on these surfaces. We offer a wide selection of range/stove/oven cleaner and deodorizer parts. Note: Never spray cleaners directly onto the control panel. Instead, put some cleaner on a soft, damp rag, then wipe the surface. Cooktop: You can clean any porcelain cooktop with a non-abrasive cleanser. Burner drip pans (bowls): You usually need to replace the drip pans or bowls beneath the grates on a gas stove/range and beneath the heating element on an electric stove/range every 2 to 3 years. But, if the numbers or lettering have worn away, you may need to replace the knobs. Light bulbs: You can replace the light bulb(s) in your range/oven, though you may need to remove a glass covering or dome to reach it. Most interior oven lights require a universal 40 watt appliance bulb. Oven: If your oven is self-cleaning, consult the owner's manual for instructions on how to use this feature. The self-cleaning feature works by heating the interior of the oven to a temperature so hot that it incinerates the residue inside the oven. Normally, it is not a good idea to clean the interior of a self-cleaning oven with a spray cleaner; however, refer to your owner's manual or contact the manufacturer of your oven for further information. To clean a non-self-cleaning oven, use one of the many oven cleaners that are available at grocery and hardware stores. Solid burner element: Some stove/ranges have heating element burners that are solid metal--there's no coil, and the stove/range isn't glass or ceramic.
